Consumer OTG Products must use the Micro-AB receptacle Mandate: Informational Effective Date: March, 2007 In February 2007, the USB-IF announced the publication of the MicroUSB Specification. In March 2007, the USB-IF announced the deprecation of the Mini-AB receptacle and the Mini-A connectors. In December 2007, certification of MicroUSB connectors started. Consumer OTG products must implement the Micro-AB receptacle. Vendors of OTG products are advised to provide a Certified USB MicroUSB cable assembly with their products until these cables are readily available in the market. To facilitate testing, vendors should create and use a Micro-AB receptacle to Mini-B plug adapter in order to use the existing OPT. This adapter will need to have the ID pins of each connector interconnected. This will enable the mini-B plug to imitate the actual plug inserted into the Micro-AB receptacle. Please see "Certification of Micro-USB Connectors" for additional information. |
